Here it is Sunday afternoon and to start writing something for the column. Monday we had a visit from our grandson Devon, his wife Kerri and their son Teddy Lumbra. Devon has been running the chair-lift at the mountain when we have snow enough so there is skiing. It sure has been rough on the ski areas not to have natural snow. I have enjoyed the few inches of snow at a time, to get me out and shovel around, cleaned most the sidewalk off Saturday afternoon, had more light snow for Sunday morning, I helped my neighbor Gila clean her driveway, she came out to help as it was nice and sunny for her. Saturday night when I went to bed around 10 p.m. the Christmas tree on the park, the lilac trees here in town were like a winter wonderland all covered with snow that was sticking on. Sunday morning it was all blown off or at least it was gone.
!/12, Our 500 Card Club was held at the lovely home of Denise and Billy Baker. Denise had invited all of us to come for noontime as she had prepared lunch. She had made a delicious soup and served it with crackers or bread. She also had prepared apple pie for dessert and served it with ice cream, then she had a choice of coffee, tea, water or punch. We were all stuffed and ready to play cards at 12:45. Cards are cards you have to take what is dealt to you good or bad, unless you have a hand with no faces, or we all can’t bid, we have to deal over, YEAH, that happens a few times. The afternoon went well and there was a lot of laughter from table one as the afternoon went by. Helen Parent had high score and she was playing in the absence of Linda VanGieson, (Linda has been recuperating from a bad cold, as I write this she is feeling better today) Thankfully!!! The second high score went to Connie McFarland, most horses to Sue Peters, She and Carmen Scott had to draw for high card to determine the winner. (Can’t beat a joker..right Sue) Sue is one of our newest players and she is doing great. We all had a fun time, and as we were leaving the storm was coming in, and everyone got home safe and sound.
On Wednesday morning after a little snow storm I went out to shovel my usual places. Around 11:30 I headed to the kitchen to start dinner. I did the potatoes, prepared other things and all of sudden I felt nauseous, it was like a snap of the finger, I got cold hands and feet, sick to my stomach and Sonny had to end up getting dinner and ate by himself. I took my heating pad to warm my feet and finally fell asleep. Well anyone that has had stomach flu know the rest, Sonny came down with it early Friday morning. We are feeling much better. (Been sort of a shty week around here.) Spent most of Saturday with the Clorox bottle and washing up all our clothes and bedding.
Happy Birthday to: Jim Cota and Sophia McAllister 1/31.
**After misplacing her keys for the fifth time in one day, she says to her husband as they leave to go for dinner, “Sometimes I think I’ve lost my mind” “It wouldn’t surprise me,” muttered her husband, “What did you just say?” she asked outraged. “ I said it wouldn’t surprise me, you have given me a piece of it every day for the past 40 years!” (Never did hear if he lived after that comment) ** Remember to share your news with me..if we want to continue with the Montgomery News. GOTTA HAVE NEWS!!!!
Hope you all have a nice week..L.T.A.
