2/13.. The 500 card club met at the lovely home of Therese Begnoche; she had invited everyone for lunch at noontime. She had prepared a delicious soup, bread and crackers, drinks of coffee, tea or punch, blueberry cobbler for dessert, and there were plenty of snacks available all afternoon. We were already to start playing cards just before one. The high score for the afternoon went to Helen Parent (2550) she was sub for Marge Cummings. Linda Van Gieson was second highest with (2330); and most horses went to Lorraine Gillis (2); Low score went to Lois Chauvin (1020) was playing for Betsy Snider, Therese gave her a hand towel. Back a few months ago the club decided to play a 6 bid hand to save redealing and also to play just 6 rounds of cards instead of 8 during the winter months..March will be our last 6 round of cards. Sue Peters will be our host for the March meeting and she plans to go to the Dairy Center at 11 a.m. on the 13th.
2/14..Our Pastor Bonnie Hovermann planned an “Ash Wednesday Service” for 6 p.m. and had a good turnout. Taking part in the service were Merle Van Gieson and Patrick Evans reading Scripture. Vivian Deuso and Lois Lumbra accompanied Pastor Bonnie during Communion. Note, Pastor Bonnie has scheduled a Lenten Bible Study that will begin on Thursday, March 1 at 6 p.m. She has order booklets entitled “Give Up Something Bad For Lent” by James W. Moore. If anyone is interested to join us call me at 326-4651 as Pastor Bonnie will be away for a week at Seminary. She gave a booklet to Frank Elkins at Franklin County Rehab for Frank to go over while he is getting therapy, etc. She asked him “if there was anything bad he would like to give up?” He answered “LADDERS!” Frank is doing well and hopefully might be home this week. He is a lucky man falling that distance and hitting that hard snow bank, he could have easily been paralyzed. Frank thanks everyone for all the prayers that have been said for him and our support and cards.
2/13..The Nimble Thimble Quilting Circle delivered their beautiful PILLOW CASES that they had made for each resident of Lady of The Meadows in Richford. Thanks to all the ladies that made or donated material to have these made for the people of this senior home. Its amazing all the nice things these ladies do for the Community and Beyond.
