8/19..What a beautiful Sunday afternoon, Penny took me for a ride on her side-by-side looking for apples. There are lots around some to small or over a fence in a pasture. Penny did manage to pick a few enough to make a pie. While on our ride, coming back down West Hill Road a little deer was eating grass under an apple tree and Penny got out and talked to it and walked pretty close to it before running off. It must have been bugged by the flies or whatever kind of insect as the little deer was very uncomfortable, shaking its legs and constantly shaking its tail. So Cute!!!
8/14.. Linda Van Gieson had the 500 Card Club at her lovely home and had invited everyone for a delicious lunch. During lunch everyone gets to chat and fill up before starting to play cards, and we always try to be playing by one p.m. The high score for the afternoon went to Carmen Scott (3680); second high was Rita St.Onge (3290) and she was sub for Marge Cummings; low score was Lorraine Gillis (530); most horses went to the hostess Linda V. (7). Linda had plenty of snacks and cold drinks for the afternoon. Subs for the afternoon were Roberta Morin for Betsy Snider, Helen Parent for Lois Lumbra. Marge Cummings will host the September meeting at her home.
8/16..Maggie Elkins and her sisters Susie Ewins and Joanne Kane went to Essex, Vt. to enjoy their August 500 game and luncheon at their sister’s Grace Jones. They always have a wonderful time. 8/18..Maggie and Susie attended the “Diamond in the Rough Ladies Invitational Event at the Enosburg Country Club.” The ladies decorated their golf carts with Bling. Maggie and Susie won first net in the flight B. Congratulations to all. Maggie said it was so much fun!!
8/16.. Seventeen members of the Green Mountain Ruby Reds, came together at the “Phoenix House” in West Berkshire for a luncheon. This was our first time going there and we were warmly welcomed by the new owner, had a friendly waitress and we were all pleased with the delicious food we had ordered. Thanks So Much!!
8/17.. A low attendance at the Ernie and Jason Couch Revival Concert from Nashville, that was held at the United Methodist Church, was rather sad. As it was such a fun filled evening for all of us in attendance. Pastor Bonnie Hovermann said that she and another Pastor were talking about having them come again next year. They sold their CD’S after the concert. They were going to Newport and stay over night and then head to Massachusetts Saturday morning for a Concert down there. They travel all around the country side. They told us a story of one big church they were going to play at and they noticed all these tambourines in all the pews, once they started playing everyone started shaking them. Very interesting!!! Another church they noticed Cheer-leaders pom-poms in all their pews, because they did not allow any clapping of hands in that church, so while they played they would shake the pom-poms. If they come back next year and you get a chance to attend you will be royally entertained.
Sincere Sympathy is extended to my brother Allen (Bud) Martin Family and Friends of Enosburg, he passed away on 8/15/18, peacefully with his loving wife Roberta and their four Children at his side. We have appreciated all the prayers, food and comforting words. Thank You So Much!!! ( Memories of Love and Friendship are treasures to carry with you always, God Bless!)
