February 13, Covered Bridges Garden Club meets at the Conference Room at the Public Safety Building 6:30 p.m..  SEEDS, SEEDS PRECIOUS SEEDS, Heather Jerett, Trial Gaden Coordinator of Highmowing Seeds, will tell us all about starting seeds in early season for best yield, and saving seeds at harvest time. Bring your own seeds along if you have some to share, also your favorite garden tool to "show and tell." Hosts Wendy Howard-Abbott and Marsha Phillips.

The Junior Gardener's at the Elementary School raised watermelons this past summer and squash and there was enough melon to serve all the children at school and squash was served at the Community Holiday Dinner. I was so impressed with their project of vermicomposting with red worms that were provided by the Wacky Worm Sisters, the worm bin was provided by the Covered Bridges Garden Club and the presentation was made possible in part of Alex Chirelstein Memorial Fund.  I remember this presentation at one of our meetings and was so impressed with the way these worms can compost so many things so fast, and to think that these worms will digest all the waste at the school and turn it into a wonderful fertilizer for their garden. That's recycling!!!
