The Montgomery Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) would like to remind residents to pick up a copy of the Emergency Preparedness Workbook packet, available at the Post Offices in the Village and Center. This packet includes helpful information from Vermont Emergency Management on preparing for emergency situations at home. There is also a letter from the Selectboard and local emergency services with additional information specifically for Montgomery. A copy of the voluntary Resident Disaster Preparedness Survey is also part of the packet. Residents are encouraged to complete the survey and return it to the Town Clerk's office. This survey is especially important for residents who have special medical or other needs because in the event of a local emergency situation, rescue personnel will know to check in with them to be sure that their basic needs are being met. Residents can include as much or as little information as they feel comfortble with on the survey -- the important thing is to indicate whether or not they will need support in case of a local emergency or disaster situation. Additional copies of these packets -- and assistance completing the survey -- will be available at the June 4 blood drive, from 10 am - 3 pm, at the Town Hall/Grange. For more information, contact Joan Grossman, CERT Team Leader, at 326-4994. email grossman@fairpoint.net <mailto:grossman@fairpoint.net> or write to Montgomery CERT, PO Box 132, Montgomery Center, VT 05471.
