The overcast skies didn't hamper the enthusiasm of the Montgomery Quilting Circle June meeting. The ladies met and had their business meeting which included news that the quilters Covered Bridges mailbox already has a bid in on it. Two charity quilts were turned in making a total of 24 for the year. The goal is 35. The "oval" shape was added to the Circles Challenge Quilt profile. Joy Anderson was welcomed back from New Zealand and she shared some of the fabrics that she had purchased on her recent trip. The beautiful cottons cost about $24. a meter. Marie, your prices are great!!!! After Show and Tell, Carolyn Babcock presented a very interesting and informative program on Broderie perse, the 19th century applique process used to stretch scarce fabric. Carolyn used the Broderie perse quilt top that she is presently working on for the mouth watering demonstration. The fabrics specific to the process were also in attendance for inspection.
The annual MHS scholarship was presented to Victoria Williams a the Society's Annual Meeting this past Saturday. The selection committee had another tough job this year. After members enjoyed Tapas and the unveiling of the Covered Bridge Mailboxes, they received the annual reports from the Society's officers and enjoyed a slide show of some of the newest photos in the collection. The mailboxes, which can be bid on, will be on display at the Montgomery Library through July 4th, and on line at www.montgomeryvt.us/mhs/htm.

The United Methodist's wish to thank Marion Charles for coming and filling the pulpit on Sunday, we all enjoyed her sermon and the Children's moments, never be offended if you get called a bird-brain, say thank you very much I consider it a compliment, when you consider all the knowledge one little bird knows, like building a unique nest, carrying for its young, God knew what he was doing.
The Covered Bridges Garden Club met at the home of Marshia Phillips Sunday noon for their annual picnic, meeting and perennial swap.
