     Billy Baker Sr. had a wonderful surprise Retirement Party on August 4 at the Rec. Center, Billy thought he was on his way to a birthday party at his sister in the Village, as Billy and his daughter came around the sharp curve by the Rec. Center Billy noticed many cars and people around and said, "What the hell is going on here", his daughter Corrine said" I don't know lets stop by and see." It was not long and he knew it was all for him. The tables were decorated with graders and trucks, there had been several local cooks preparing delicious food, a beautiful cake looking like the map of Montgomery's roads that Billy had traveled over all the years of his service by Roberta Cota. Tosca presented Billy with two nice handmade plaques made by local artist Dan Malloy . A wonderful evening was enjoyed by all and Billy we all sincerely hope you enjoy your retirement, as he has been so dedicated to given of his service to his community, being our road commissioner and being on the fire department,etc., for his many years of sacrifice cannot go unmentioned, having to leave his family on special occasions to get the job done, and done it was, Thanks Billy and God Bless!

     The Covered Bridges Garden Club will have its Harvest Fest on August 26 at the Village Park and if anyone would like to donate baked good, preserves, fresh veggies, antiques, a potted perennial plant.  We welcome vendors, (Call Marshia 326-3111), there will be a Children's Program, Chinese Auction Table, world famous SandorKraut author of wild Fermentation 11 a.m.-2p.m. at the Un. Meth. Church space is limited so buy your tickets early Call Sharon (933-6709) Come and bring a friend a real fun day for the whole family. (9 a.m.- 4 p.m.)

     Notice, Old Home Day will be celebrated on August 20, and reminder that the Worship Service starts at 10 a.m. and following the service at 11:30 a Chicken-N-Biscuit Dinner, at the United Methodist Church, 20 Fuller Bridge Road.

     The Blood Drive held on Aug. 6 at the Town Hall was successful and CERT's and the Rescue Squad all thank the many giving people as there is a critical need at this time.

     The 50 Week Club winners were Mary Roy and Scott Baker.

     It has been one of those weeks of fun for some, grief for others and to end each day say a little prayer for those that are in need or call a special someone and let them know you are thinking of them. God Bless!!
