     Free, Red Cross Shelter Training in Montgomery, August 28-29. As part of our local emergency response plan, we are working to develop a group of local volunteers who are trained to work with the Red Cross to open and staff emergency shelters in the community, if they are needed. A total of three classes (each one is approx. 3 hours long) will be held here in town at the Public Safety Building on Route 242, to provide the required training. They will be taught by a Red Cross instructor and are FREE and open to all. Pre-registration required. Classes, dates and times are Friday Aug.28 5:30-9:00 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 29, 2 classes being held 8:30 a.m. until lunch break and then approx 1-4:30 p.m.

     Ten members of the Green Mountain Ruby Reds enjoyed with great pleasure the tour of Boyden Winery in Cambridge on Aug. 20, then they were off to Fairfax for a garden tour at Colleen's and she prepared a lunch for all. It was a fun day and they; had a relaxing time on her front porch.

     Norman Newton and daughter Christina are up from Va. to visit with his mom Sally, and brother John and family and to pick up son Alex and return home on Aug. 23.

     On 8/13 Pat Carpenter and sister's Marilyn Marshall, Carolyn Stetson and sister-in-law Rachel Pattee, cousins Elma Delude from Conn., Betty Clark of Sheldon, Lauren Young and daugher Stephanie Machia and her daughter Allison all got together for a luncheon at the Golf Course Restaurant in Enosburg. Then the following weekend 8/16 Pat and Charlie Carpenter had invited the Pattee family to their Hill West Camp and her sister's came and cousins, many did not attend because of the great hay day.

     What a great day here Aug. 22 for the Garden Club, it had predicted rain and it held off until the event was all over and the people were on their way home. The winner's of the raffle tickets were Rita and Allen Kalsmith, Chantel Pothier-Lumbra, Charles Henderson, Jay Kerch and Lily Debrule. Congratulations!!!

     Bill and Connie McFarland enjoyed this Sunday 8/23 with their 3 daughters and spouses, Craig and Nancy Benson and their 3 children from Underhill, Joe and Jane Sanpatreno from So. Burlington, Victor and Patty Rollings from Chazy N.Y. Nancy wanted her Mother to have a birthday cake and so she made it for her and they all came together and had a good time celebrating, even if were a few days late as her birthday was 8/12.
     Extending Heartfelt Sympathy to family and friends of Michael and June Abramowitz in the loss of his Mother Shirley Abramowitz.

     Reminder of the Community Block Party this Saturday night 8/29 bring pot-luck and come and enjoy eating out at the Rec. Center Pavilion starting at 6:30. Live music starts at 7p.m.

     School is back in session soooo, for all motorists its time to beware that the little ones are out there on or near the streets again. SLOW DOWN!!!!
