     Sept. 9, The ladies 500 card club met at Cota camp with Jo Cota and Lois Lumbra as hostess’s.  The ladies gathered at 1 p.m. and started dealing those cards that were good to some and not so good for others, Theresa Begnoche had high score, Linda VanGieson second high, and most horses was a tie between Betsy Snider and Evelyn Hart, Evelyn won the tie breaker.  Besides being a beautiful afternoon with all its warmth over looking the view, all ladies enjoyed fellowship and lots of laughter.  There were 3 subs for the afternoon, Betsy Snider played for Lorraine Gillis, Rita Tatro for Therese Demar, Lois Lumbra for Connie McFarland.  Lois made her famous apple fritters for dessert time.

     The 50 week club winner’s were Ted Quintin and Father Hahr.  Reminder of the Dinner/Dance this Saturday night Sept. 19 at Stonebrook restaurant, 6 p.m. happy hour and dinner at 7p.m.

     Hannafords Helps Schools, by purchasing Campbells, Nestle, Kashi, Kelloggs, Purina, Hershey’s, and clorox brands, from Sept. 6 – Dec. 6, you can earn school dollars that help your school purchase extra supplies or equipment for students.  

     School pictures will be taken on Friday, October 9.   

     Red Cross Babysitting Course, Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9a-3p.m. this will be held at the conference room at the Public Safety building.  Children ages 11-14 are invited, the cost is $10. and a $5. refund on completion of course, for more info call 326-2003. A snack will be provided but bring your own lunch.

     September 27, Blood Drive at St.Isidore’s Parish Hall, starting at 10a-3p.m.  All donors must be 17 years of age and weigh at least 110 pounds.  Gift donations from Belfry and Snowshoe Lodge.  The Red Cross is continuing the season-long contest to win tickets to the Red Sox home game for as long as the season continues.  Thanks to all that come and give the Gift Of Life.

     Sally Newton accompanied her daughter-in-law Martha Newton to Alaska where they spent 7 days on a cruise and 5 days on tour.  It was wonderful and so beautiful, we got to see whales, bears, moose and enjoyed the delicious food.  But its always good to get back home.

     John Harrocks returned home this weekend after being in Alaska for the past few months where he is a work during the summer months fishing salmon.  Welcome home John, it will be nice seeing you around town again.

     Terry Zartarian has gone to Mass. to visit her sisters Ann and Cathy, she will return back the middle of this week.

     Diane Bocian has gone to New Jersey to visit her mother.

     Muriel Hudson and son Wayne were here for a weeks visit and have returned to Arizona.

     There will be a Rummage and Bake Sale at the United Methodist Church on Oct. 10.  We are now accepting clean Fall and Winter clothing, household goods, toys, books, puzzles, and any large item please bring the day of the sale, things can be left on the steps at your convenience.  Our Sincere Thanks, the U.M.W.
