On 9/12 the Green Mountain Ruby Reds ejoyed the senior dinner at Dairy Center and then we were off to Brownway to entertain the Ladies and Gentlemen there, OR, did they entertain us, they were a great group and joined in singing with us and had a lovely dancer. Fredda Plouff accompanied all singers on key board. Fredda is one of our newest members.
The Ladies 500 Card Club met at the home of Lorraine Gillis, high score for the evening went to Denise Baker, second high and door prize to Therese Demar, most horses host Lorraine, Linda VanGieson will host the October 11 meeting.
9/13, The Covered Bridges Garden Club met at the Public Safety Building at 6:30 p.m, when President Winston Lewis called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone and then went over our recent fund raisers and thanked everyone for a job well done. Our guest Debbie Landauer a local Herbalist gave a great presentation and everyone that came enjoyed making their own herbal medicine. The refreshment table was decorated in a Fall Theme and delicious goodies were provided.
All members of the Covered Bridges Garden Club are invited to attend the Fall FGCV Board Meeting on Monday, October 2, 2006, in The Stables at Pigeon Hill Farm. With Michael Perry and Jeffrey Gonyaw as the event coordinators and caterers, this meeting is sure to please everyone. Sharon Perry is working closely with Michael and Jeffrey to deliver a "day to remember" for all FGCV members attending. The theme for the meeting will be the breath-taking fall foliage Vermont has to offer in early October. Needless to say, Mother Nature will provide the beautiful backdrop and scenery for the meeting while Michael and Jeffrey will be serving a delightful luncheon in their extra special venue at The Stables, 268 Montgomery Road, in East Berkshire. Following the business meeting, we’ll be entertained by the guest speaker as he discusses "When Bad Bugs Invade Good Gardens." Additionally, beautiful fall floral arrangements and watering-can favors will adorn each table. The favors will be filled with a delicious assortment of nuts from Marsha Phillips and The Mapled Nut Company and will include note cards featuring Christa Chevalier's adorable cartoons found in past issues of The Bridge.
Marshia Phillips had a scarey experience Sunday evening while returning home from a business trip, In Eden two trucks had passed her as she continued home, just out of the blue a huge bear ran right in front of her, she had no time to brake, luckily she was not injured but really shaken up. One of the fellows that had passed her must have noticed she was not coming and turned around to investigate, he stayed with her and offered his help. They estimated the bear to weigh around 250 plus.
Best wished to Jason Ryan as he gets better from a near tragedy while trail-bike riding. Jason has neck injuries and we all wish you a speedy recovery.
Congratulations to all the winner's of the 50 Week Club,They had a fantastic evening at the Dairy Center, and a very successful year. October 1 will be the first drawings of new winners.
