On September 11 the Quilting Circle met at the Public Safety Building, two more charity quilts were added making it 27 thus far this year. Carolyn showed the finished block of the month, Jeannette her blue and white fabric from France, Theresa the pillow slips she has made for Christmas, Diane her bag that took second place of the 845 entries in the Canadian purse contest, Linda her almost finished tree skirt, Sue her quilt of valor, Shirley won the attendance prize. Shirley Deuso will demonstrate how to finish a bias binding seam for the October 9th meeting. Plus plans will be made for Christmas.
Tony and Sue Peters enjoyed the company of their friends Rod and Paulette Page of Bend, Oregon this past week, while here they attended a wedding.
Tim and Sam Murphy have returned home after visiting her father Richard Sampietro of Asheville, N.C.
On October 3, "Hungrytown" comes to Grace Church in Sheldon Creek at 7:30 p.m. this will be the last musical for the season.
Who were the Native people of Vermont and how did they live? The Montgomery Historical Society invites all to Pratt Hall, Saturday, October 4, 7:00p.m. for a lecture by Jeanne Brink titled "The Western Abenaki" History and Culture. This lecture exmines the importance in Abenaki society of elders and children, the environment, and the continuance of lifeways and traditions. It includes discussion and demonstrations of Abenaki language, dance, games, family stories, and basketmaking. Drawing upon her Abenaki family history, Jeanne Brink (Azoniz in Abenaki) is a consultant tradional basketmaker, and co-author of a Western Abenaki language guide. She holds a master's degree in Native American Studies. (Free)
