On October 18th Mr. Chirelstein's 5th grader's at Montgomery Elementary School presented their Social Studies Exhibit to their parents and grandparents. The exhibit was held at the Library and each child had made their own map of their routes from their homes to school, putting in brooks, roads, homes along the way, as they are studying Vermont, US History and Geography. The children were all proud of their works and most parents and grandparents found their work very impressive. A Special Thanks to helpers Ms. Diagmun and Mr. Newton.
Saturday, October 21, the Covered Bridges Garden Club met at Safety Building with only 14 members present. The brief meeting was called to order by Vice-president Sue Peters. Our Guest Speaker Dr. Leonard Perry of the Greenhouse and Nursery Extension Specialist for the University of Vermont, gave his presentation on "Planting and Forcing Spring Bulbs". We enjoyed his beautiful slide show of his own garden and others in his travels of Ontario and Holland. We all enjoyed the delicious refreshments, the drawing of a beautiful carved pumpkin holding a bouquet of Fall flowers was won by Ellen Coolidge. (Our Pres. Winston Lewis was unable to be with us as she recently had surgery and we all wish her a speedy recovery)
