8/7, Connie McFarland and her children, Jane and Joe Sanpetrino, Raymond McFarland, Nancy and Craig Benson and their children Travis and Alyssa, Patricia and Victor Rollings; were all together to celebrate Connie’s Birthday on Sunday, a little early. Connie had fresh vegetables from her garden and others brought pot-luck. Nancy made the cakes for her Mother, then they enjoyed the afternoon with their Mom before going home.
8/7, Thanks to all the donors for their support at the recent Blood Drive at St.Isidore’s Parish Hall. The Red Cross collected 21 units to help the much needed blood supply. Also thanks for the raffle gifts that were donated. I sincerely want to THANK all of you volunteers that come and donate your time for these blood drawings..there is a lot of work that gets done by all of you. Thank-You!!!
8/8, The Franklin County Women’s soft-ball team played their last game of the season at the River Walk Ball Field. Teams played were Montgomery versus Franklin . The Ladies all wore wrist-bands with Caleb Sylvester and Chantell Pothiers names as the evening was dedicated in their Memory
Ariella Chambers has returned home after spending several weeks with her father in Washington, D.C. and also time with her grandmother in Springfield, Mass. She is the daughter of Cyndee Pelkey and the grand daughter of John and Robin Pelkey and the great granddaughter of Marilyn Baker of town.
8/9, The 500 Card Club met at the lovely home of Connie McFarland at noontime where a delicious lunch was provided and everyone got to sit around and talk before starting the afternoon game. The high score for the afternoon went to Linda VanGieson, second high was Jeannette Sylvester and most horses went to Roberta Morin and she was also sub for Lois Lumbra and Rita St.Onge was sub for Denise Baker. Jo Cota will host the September 500 Card Club.
8/11, There were seven ladies of the Green Mountain Ruby Reds that met at JR”S Restaurant in Jay for lunch. Diane Bocian, Rachel Wright enjoyed going in the pool, while Connie McFarland, Lois Babbitt and Fredda Ploof were sitting outside watching them and others swim, Betsy Snider and Lois Lumbra returned home after lunch. It was a great day to be in the pool, heard on the weather report this morning that it was 96 degrees being our hottest day of the year and with that humidity, we didn’t need to be in a pool to feel wet.
8/13, Descendants of Austin Lumbra family, a reunion was held Saturday at Brookside Campgrounds in Enosburg with a good turnout even with the heavy rains that came down. The oldest member in attendance was Connie Lumbra McFarland (85). The youngest was Rye..14 month old daughter of Joshua and Sarah Vaillancourt from Syracuse, N.Y. and a great-granddaughter of Lorraine Gillis. Lorraine was absent due to not feeling well , also Theresa and Romeo Lamore were not present. Traveling the farthest was Max Gillis, from Freehold, N.J. he is a grandson of Lorraine’s. Largest family members attending were Geraldine Rublee and family from Milo, Maine, She is a daughter of the late Oscar Lumbra. Raffle tickets were sold for the Tea Cup Auction, as there were several wonderful gifts brought in, then there were games for the children in between showers. A sincere THANKS to Doug and Wanda Snider for the delicious dinner that was provided for all the families. Desserts were provided by the Lumbra families.
We extent our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Roland Nichols..( It’s hard to understand why people are taken from us, but find comfort in knowing you were a special part of a well-lived life.)
