2/4..THIS IS THE BIG “SUPER BOWL GAME “ DAY. There are many excited fans waiting for the outcome of this Super Game. I did not send my column Sunday, I wanted to know the out come of this game. Here it is Monday morning and the Eagles won. There are many Patriots fan that are disappointed and many Eagle Fans that are excited. (Another excitement this morning is the snowstorm that came in yesterday and still snowing hard this morning, about a foot here in the Village, the mountains will be excited to have this snow.) There is always someone excited and while others not so much.
1/30.. How many people have lived 80 years or more and have not seen a Pileated Woodpecker? My husband had never seen one until the other day; one flew on the tree stump by our house looking for something near the bird feeder. I witnessed one a few years ago out on the telephone pole near our driveway. It was making a loud noise and I had never heard one before and once I surprised it, it flew up back of us in a tree and continued to make a loud noise. But Tuesday this one only flew in and looked around and flew away. They are big and have lots of color.
1/30..This has been a week of bad luck for many. Gloria Longe fell in her home and broke her ankle and was taken by Richford Ambulance to Northwestern Medical in St. Albans. She has since been taken to the St.Albans Health and Rehab on Route 105,on Sheldon Road. She was enroute to the hospital when another call went into 911, by Linda Elkins, her husband Frank had fallen off his house roof. Pat Carpenter was talking with her sister in Enosburg who has a scanner and she told Pat that a man had fallen off the roof right on her street “ON The COMMON” Charlie got over to find Frank down on the snowbank, unable to move. He and Linda covered him with blankets and tried to keep him calm before the Ambulance arrived. Frank had landed hard in the packed snow. Once checked out at the hospital, he has a fractured pelvis and has been in horrific pain. He was finally put on new pain medication and got him to sit on the edge of the bed Friday afternoon and Saturday sat up in a chair for 2-3 hours, he may have to go to Burlington and they will have to pin his fractured pelvis, if not and he is better Mondy he will go to a Rehab on Tuesday. (??) Also the leg muscles are wicked lame and sore. Jeffrey Messier of Black Fall Road fell on the ice and broke his leg recently. My husband fell in our walk way to the car on the ice and hurt his knee and rib, He hit one of the rocks I have going around our walkway, which are mostly covered by snow and ice. Our Pastor Bonnie Hovermann has fallen twice on the ice in her driveway; Vivian Deuso said she fell on the ice near her car and almost slid under it. There has been several accidents on these icy conditions we have had most of our winter so far. I would rather have snow, than rain that turns to ice. Also a dear Friend Rachel Robitaille has been taken to the hospital in Burlington, not sure but it might have been a stroke. ( To the ones recuperating in the hospital or rehab, or just your bruises, we your family and friends are thinking of you and keeping you in prayer and wish you a speedy recovery).
Sincere Sympathy to the Family and Friends of John Youland, his mother Doris Youland Olsen passed away 2/3 p.m. Doris has been in a nursing home in Clearwater, Florida for the past few years. ( You’re in our thoughts, our hearts, and our prayers, We wish you and your Family strength and peace, God Bless!)
